Copper Penny
In 1982, in order to save money due to raw materials to produce copper cents, the US Mint converted over to a zinc alloy for Lincoln Penny production. This resulted in 7 different variations of Lincoln cents to be minted in 1982. We categorize the Copper Penny for the date range of 1959 through 1982 as we have a Wheat Penny category, which are also copper/bronze/steel.
