3 Cent

The 3 Cent silver coins were the smallest of the United States type coins and were minted between 1851 and 1873. In 1873 the majority of these non-proof coins produced between 1863 and 1872 were melted. A nickel version of these 3 Cent coins was produced between 1865 and 1889 to replace their silver counterparts.
